Cabo Chips
Great Chips need a Great Website
What a wonderful project to work on! Christian Bunte, the operator of Cabo Chips, contacted me when wanting to create a new website for his company. He needed the whole deal, from e-commerce, newsletters, recipes, events, UPS shipping, and a whole lot more. The company is based out of Laguna Hills and Christian lives in Orange County, so this was a perfect fit!
Before I could start the project though, I had to taste the chips. Let me tell you, WOW. These chips are the real deal. Bias aside, these chips are absolutely delicous and if you haven't tried them yet, I strongly suggest you do.
I sat down with Christian and we went over what he wanted. At the end of the day, I had pages of notes. We started off on the design first, which I worked closely with him on. We wanted to make the site professional and easy to use, but also relate to the companies history and founding which starts in Cabo San Lucas.
Using bold but delightful colors, clear and easy to read serif fonts, I came up with the design that fits both form and function. He was happy and so was I.
Now onto the development.
The older site was static HTML files for the main site, and any store aspects would be given to the user through Yahoo Small Business services. My goal was to get rid of this separation between marketing and e-commerce and house both aspects under 1 roof.
I decided to use the Drupal Content Management system. The site uses a plethora of modules from ubercart for e-commerce, simplenews for email marketing, twitter pull, and more.
In the end, I was able to give the client a website that both he and I were proud of. I walked with him every step of the way, from initual quotes, design, development, testing, and training.
Enough about the website.
